Millfield School is seeking an inspiring Head of Athletic Development to drive the long-term athletic development of our students. This pivotal role involves designing and delivering outstanding athletic programmes that enhance physical performance, support sporting pathways, and reduce injury risk across a broad range of sports.
You will work closely with Heads of Sport to integrate athletic development into each sport’s programme, liaise with professional academies and governing bodies, and oversee the transition of students between prep and senior levels. You’ll also oversee the school’s gym facilities — ensuring a safe, high-performing environment — and lead the professional development of graduate and placement coaches.
We are looking for a UKSCA-accredited coach with a degree in sports science (or a related subject), exceptional experience in youth athletic development, and a strong ability to manage multiple stakeholders. You will be creative, driven, and committed to delivering excellence within a holistic educational environment.
The standard workweek comprises an average of 42 hours from Monday to Saturday during term time, with an additional commitment of 4 weeks outside of term (36.6 total working weeks).
In return, you will receive an annual salary of £33,000 (inclusive of statutory holiday pay) based on a full-time equivalent (FTE) of £41,937.33. We anticipate the first round of interviews, which will consist of a 15-minute Teams call with the Director of Sport will take place on Wednesday 28th May. We anticipate the second round of interviews, which will take place in person at the Senior School campus in Street, Somerset will take place the week commencing 2nd June.
